The island (Eyjan)

You spawn at a small reef off the main island. There is a huge cave with an opening a few feet from the spawn point. The cave leads into dungeon/ mine full of mobs and hot lava, so don't try going in there before getting properly dressed and with loads of weapons.
Starting off you find trees nearby, lots of sheep to get wool for a nice bed and cattle provide a nice evening dinner steak. Don't kill the pigs and chicken if you plan farming, there are only a few on the island. I made the mistake of having a grilled chicken and then I had to dig into trees later to find chicken to breed.
In the middle of the main island you will find a really high mountain, that's where I built my house.
If you plan on exploring beyond the island, there are a few small islands close by, they are not visible, but the below map shows the location.
The mainland to the noth-west is desert, to the west is a flatland but the island to the south-east is really nice. I have a summer house there for my vacations.
This is an ideal location for a hut, a few cattle, sandy beaches and a nice pond in the middle.
Then some information on the cave. Above is a picture of the entry to the cave. You almost have to be in fly-mode to access it, but digging is also possible here. The cave is full of adventures, it is so huge and easy to get lost, that you really have to mark your trail well.
